Patterns in design

Pattern # 62 High places has remained the most important pattern for my design. I immediately thought it was a very interesting pattern. Personally I always like to go to viewpoints in a city.
And the temporary staircase at the Groothandelsgebouwen has proven that people from Rotterdam can also appreciate this. Going into the height has become the basis for my design. I have linked this to other functions that I wanted to add on the square.
Pattern #161 sunny place was also a pattern that I kept using the whole time. I made a solar study early in my research and I have been able to look back on this during the design and form studies. This was very nice, because I thought this was a very important pattern. What is not in the book but is important, is that other weather conditions are also being considered. In the full wind is a sunny place still if not yet nice to stay.
Because of my choices to enter the height, pattern 125 stair seats become a good addition. During our interview on the square, more people wanted to have more seats in the square. By creating a staircase there are also a lot of sitting areas, but this without the square seems empty when there are no people. Because I chose this pattern, I also had to do more technical research luckily we also had lessons about stairs during this period.
Pattern # 88 street cafe I have added last to my design. I have done this to give a reason / function to climbing the stairs. It is important that this caffe can be arranged differently per time. so that you can buy chcolm milk and soup for example on a winter day and coctails on a beautiful summer evening.
#60 accessible green expresses something that people need. The idea that green spaces should not be feather away than a 3-minute walk seemed like a nice idea, but not very realistic in a big city. By making the roofs green as in the plan of "Lijnbaankwartier Actualizationdevelopment vision" this 3 minute idea becomes a lot more realistic. In my design I have created a park is at the roof of the cinema. And through my bridge over the pathé, this park can be opened to visitors during the day.
After concluding in my field research that the square is now a dark hole, the Pattern # 33 Night life became much more important. After concluding in my field research that the square is now a dark hole, the Pattern # 33 Night life became much more important. The book mainly describes how buildings with evening functions should be placed together in a city, this has already been done. But it still does not work, it is important that people feel safe and want to stay outside as. To make the square lively place in the evening I started working with light. The entire square should be better illuminated. And the small lichts makes give the square a better atmospheric.
